These circuits use a CdS photocell to simulate motion detection, by sensing shadows and other small disturbances in ambient lighting caused by nearby people.

Reverse engineered circuit diagram of the sensor circuitry out of a very sensitive children's photoelectric Room Gaurd toy. The original toy would talk and make alarm sounds, whenever an intruder walked by or cast any kind of shadow onto the photocell. This circuit has immunity to battery voltage transients.

Reverse engineered circuit diagram of the photoelectric sensor circuitry out of an electronic doggy toy. The doggy had a photocell in his nose so that when you cast a shadow or put your hand near he would bark and spin his tail.

Reverse engineered circuit diagram of the photoelectric sensor circuitry out of a haloween skull that you hang on a door or wall. If the skull detects your shadow via a photocell in it's nose, then it tries to scare you by screaming and squirting water. This circuit design works well under dim haloween lighting conditions.
